Who We Are

IPPNW Africa is a federation of groups of medical professionals, students, and people who share the common goal of achieving peace through advocacy and projects. It is part of a larger federation IPPNW that is well known for winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985 for its role in achieving peace during the cold war.

Affiliates

We are currently in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Zambia, South Africa, Nigeria and Democratic Republic of Congo. Our affiliates vary from just a group of medical students mobilizing their own for a small project on health to our supporters who turn up for our events with the vision that the world will be free from the threat of nuclear weapons

Why we do what we do

IPPNW Africa is a federation of groups of medical professionals, students, and people who share the common goal of achieving peace through advocacy and projects. It is part of a larger federation IPPNW that is well known for winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985 for its role in achieving peace during the cold war.IPPNW African affiliates are national medical organizations with a common commitment to the abolition of nuclear weapons and the prevention of war. Affiliates range in size from a handful of dedicated physicians and medical students to tens of thousands of activists and their supporters. As independent organizations within a global federation, IPPNW African affiliates engage in a wide variety of activities related to war, health, social justice, and the environment.
